FTP (File Transfer Protocol), is the most popular method for transferring web content to a hosting account. Using an FTP software application that’s pre-installed on your desktop PC or laptop, you can make a connection to your hosting server and copy all the website files that you want with a few clicks. This is done via a user-friendly GUI and it is as easy as dragging and dropping the aforementioned files. The advantage of using FTP is that you can set up several FTP accounts, each with a different level of access to your server space, so if you’d like to grant someone access, for example – a designer, they’ll be able to connect only to one specific directory and will not be able to view the rest of your web content or any other information, including personal details. Three prerequisites are mandatory to be able to set up an FTP connection – a hostname, which is usually a domain name or an IP, a username and a password.
FTP Accounts in Cloud Website Hosting
You will be able to set up as many FTP accounts as you want with each of the cloud website hosting services offered by us, because we have decided not to limit this feature. In this way, you can have multiple Internet sites simultaneously or provide other persons with access to separate folders. As soon as a given task has been accomplished and you wouldn’t like that individual to be able to access your website files anymore, you can modify the password associated with the given FTP account or you can simply remove that account with a few clicks and quit worrying about anyone connecting to it once more. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with all shared web hosting packages, will permit you to view the full list of the existing FTP accounts listed alphabetically. It takes just one mouse click to administer different options for any of them – to change the password or the access path, to download an auto-config file, etc.
FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your Internet sites in a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to create a different FTP account for any of them, since we have not put a limit on this functionality with any of our plans. You can do this through the FTP section of our simple-to-work-with Hepsia Control Panel where you can also see the full list of all the accounts that you’ve set up, together with the folder that each one can connect to. If necessary, you will be able to update the password for a specific FTP account or to edit its access path with several clicks of the mouse. You can also remove an account without effort if you do not need it anymore – for example, if you have hired a designer who’s finished with the website and you do not want them to access your website files any longer. For the sake of convenience, we have created different educational videos, which will help you administer your FTP accounts with no effort in case you’ve never used a hosting plan previously.
FTP Accounts in VPS
None of the VPS that we are offering includes a limit on the number of FTP accounts that you can manage at any given time, so you can set up a separate FTP account for each Internet site hosted on the Virtual Private Server, no matter if it’s under a domain or sub-domain. Also, it does not matter which Control Panel you’ll pick when you register – Hepsia, DirectAdmin or cPanel, since an FTP server will be set up on your virtual machine during the configuration of any of them. If you want a number of people to be able to set up an FTP connection to one and the same directory using their very own set of login credentials, for example, it’ll take a couple of clicks to set up a different FTP account for each of them. Removing an active account or changing the folder that it can access is just as easy and you won’t have to deal with any problems, even if you lack previous experience in such matters.
